Radon Screening
Radon is an invisible, odorless radioactive gas that can enter a home from the soil. Our 48-hour radon screening measures the level inside the home with an electronic continuous radon monitor, so you know where it stands before making decisions.
How the screening works
What we do
- An electronic continuous radon monitor records the radon level throughout the screening.
- The screening runs for at least 48 hours.
- Windows and exterior doors stay closed starting 12 hours before and throughout the screening. Normal coming and going is fine.
- The monitor is placed in the lowest lived-in level of the home, about 20 inches above the floor and away from exterior doors, windows and outside walls.
- We return to collect the monitor and deliver the results.
What you receive
A report showing the average radon level for the screening period and the readings recorded along the way, in picocuries per liter (pCi/L), the unit the EPA uses.
$100 added to a home inspection, or $175 on its own.

Radon levels and EPA guidance
Radon is measured in picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L). These are the reference levels from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

What does the home need during the screening?
Keep windows and exterior doors closed starting 12 hours before and throughout the screening, and leave the monitor where it is placed. Normal coming and going is fine.

Yes. Ask when you schedule so we can plan the setup and pickup.
Can you tell whether a house has radon without testing?
No. Radon cannot be seen or smelled. Measuring it is the only way to know the level.
